Everything on The Invisible Room Search for Enlightenment Podcast and on the website is designed to do two things: first, to infuse in listeners and readers the certitude that God is real; and second, to open doors so that one might experience dramatic shifts in point of view from the human experience to the point of view of God, the divine self, the absolute, your invisible room. Both of these transformations are possible. Divine intent, of course, determines everything.

I have made two uses of the Fire of Life Oracle on this site. I use them on “The Sweet Voice of Prayer” audio for the purpose of making deep openings in the heart so that the listener’s voice of prayer might arise. Embracing these deep currents of the heart will bring one closer to the original fire of love, the silent mystery behind the veil that cannot be lifted. Standing before that veil, one simply knows; one simply bows down. Listening to  04 Flame of Love Initiation will go a long way to opening up one’s psyche to these levels of love divine.

The second use I make of these prayers is an oracle, a strategy for making a deep plunge into the ocean of being and adopting the viewpoint of the divine itself as it seeks to merge with its human lover. The lyrical expressions are the voices of human longing as it feels the divine presence. The commentaries take you right into the infinite. They are the voice of the divine without any expected qualifications of what that voice or being might be. There is deep understanding in the commentaries, but the viewpoint itself is nothingness, the divine, the unformed spirit. Ultimately it is you.

Instructions for its use as an oracle and demonstrations of how they sound when read are given on the audio for this episode.

The Invisible Room Self-Awakening Process

What a wonderful moment it is when the world stops generating noise long enough for one of those life-altering questions to arise for real in one’s consciousness. What might one of those be? Who am I? What am I doing here? Is any of this real? Does God exist? What happens when I die? And can I generate one of those moments myself without waiting for it? What about the knowing presence? What about God?

The process described here might be engaged for the purpose of opening a clean and clear space inside where some degree of awakening just might happen. No promises. Listening regularly to the podcast audios might generate some degree of awakening. No promises. This process is something I do as an extension of my daily sadhana (spiritual practice). It’s real; it’s intimate; it brings out the deepest personal part of me and more.

This process begins with an inquiry: what would happen if suddenly you felt the overwhelming presence of God? I cannot be a predictor of what might happen to any individual in such a situation, but my sense of moments like these, which I have experienced on several occasions, is that whoever you think you are, whatever you believe about life and God and the other side, your core stuff will just spill out all over your mind as when a spigot is turned wide open from your deepest personal insides, no secrets, no hidden agendas, it will all just be there; the you that you think you are at that moment will be there. You will likely get nothing but silence for the divine end of that “conversation.” No matter, no need for more. As the presence fades, you will begin your own assessment of the thing you think you are.

Without waiting for such a moment, which may never come to any given person as described above, we can instead imagine such a moment and write out what might “spill out” of our minds were we to be in the presence. In fact, what we are attempting here is to attract that presence to you. Have spirit drop the veils. See how you handle infinity. This exercise, which would be ongoing, indeed, it might be ongoing for a lifetime, and which thrives on an open and sincere heart, is designed to generate that intimacy with the divine other, God, the Absolute, Spirit, the Invisible Room, in your heart. It is my belief that this “conversation” is eternally ongoing deep within, and you are learning to make your way inward to where that “conversation” is taking place in eternity. That would be the stated goal. Again no promises. Since we are always in the presence of the divine other and considering that there is no place where it is not, by simply turning our attention to that reality we are attempting to clear a place in our psyches for that intimacy to manifest itself as real. And to grow. Or so that is the intent.

Constructing Such a Moment

  1. With what name would one address that presence? A designation makes it real in the terms available to you now. Write it down. Dear so and so. Friend, lover, judge, teacher, guru, sage, savior, ancestor, who does it feel like as you open this moment sitting in front of your computer writing? As you continue this exercise over time, this designation might change as you regularly edit this moment.
  2. What is it you want out of your life? Be honest. Material things? Job? Bed partner? Money? A spiritual practice? Answers to some of the big questions about existence? What is real to you at this moment? No one is looking over your shoulder except the presence that already knows everything about you. And I mean everything! The things you hide are the things you hide from yourself (your shadow self). The judgments you have are coming from you. Be open. Let it flow. As you continue this exercise over time, these needs and inquiries might change as you regularly edit this moment and as you are more willing to take on the more shadowy aspects of your personal existence. No predictions. Wow! The possibilities!
  3. How to keep this moment from becoming a list of desires? Just keep writing, let it flow out, get out of your rational mind; repetition is inevitable as the psyche moves inward, like following the inward spin of a maelstrom; you return to the same place only deeper. At some point spirit takes over. You should gain energy working this exercise; if you start losing energy, time to stop. Remember to whom you are addressing this flow in your consciousness.
  4. Save it to the desktop. Just a double click and there it is again. Visit often, edit, rewrite, make it real every moment you visit it. Never delete or start from scratch. Why? Because it is real at the outset. I visit mine every day. I make changes every day.

It is almost inevitable at first that you will feel self-conscious about this process. Even if it feels phony, it is still real. With regular attention to the moment, the feeling that it is not real will gradually dissipate. Think about it. This moment becomes every moment. How can it not be real?

The key to gaining value from this exercise is to visit the moment regularly. Let it come. Be an editor. Feel the waves of truth rising from the depths. Ride those waves as they arise during the day. Be true. Enjoy.

“Now it is time to sit quiet, face to face with thee, and to sing dedication of life in this silent and overflowing leisure.” –Rabindranath Tagore, Gitanjali Chapter 5

HH Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji

My relationship with Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji has been ongoing since 1993, when, during a concert, he came into the audience and manifested for me a crystal out of his siddha abilities (mystical powers). After the concert, I asked him why. He said because I had been performing puja daily. That was an irresistible hook. I feel him swirling inside me right now as I prepare these words for presentation on this website.

I have visited Sri Swamiji’s ashram in Mysore, India, twice and have a room there in my name should I wish to visit again. Meanwhile there is much territory on my inner landscape devoted to my experiences with him and the many avenues through which he makes himself available to devotees. Just to give him a special name on that inner territory, I refer to him now as the Absolute Man. He is the sadguru, the Absolute Man. That means that Sri Swamiji has mastered life when lived within and as the absolute spirit. He is the knower and the known. He is the ongoing process of life manifesting and unmanifesting itself. In the language of his Hindu devotes, he is Dattatreya as well as the self-existent one (Avadhoot). His movement within the unmoved and unmoving spirit is Dattatreya. I currently chant mantras and listen to his music to receive the Dattatreya bounty and Sri Swamiji’s grace.

In contrast to the sparse external presentation of Ramana Maharshi, Sri Swamiji’s manifestation is like a paradisal garden of lush spiritual delights. He is a world class musician on the synthesizer and has played concerts of Meditation and Healing music around the world for thirty years. Many of his albums are available in iTunes, and through Apple Music and Spotify, for those who subscribe to those services.

As a Brahman in India, Sri Swamiji performs pujas (sacred ceremony) to many of the Hindu deities preferred by those who come to him. Sri Swamiji’s choices to worship are their choices. Sri Swamiji is the source to which all these deities refer. Every morning without fail, no matter where he is in the world, Sri Swamiji performs the Sri Chakra Puja, which is a devotional service to the divine mother. His mother was his guru. Keeping one’s eyes on the guru, one never gets lost, although until enlightenment dawns, one is always blind. I once asked Swamiji what the value was in having a sadguru. His answer was one word, “Protection.” How many years of searching blindly about does it take to realize the truth of this statement.

Sri Swamiji’s presence in the world has flourished like foliage in a rain forest. He has millions of devotees in India and the west; he has many temples to various deities in the Mysore ashram to accommodate their worship, and he has many ashrams around India and the west. He has recorded dozens of albums of Meditation and Healing music as well as bhajans (devotional songs), most of which he composed. Sri Swamiji is constantly travelling around the world to visit devotees. This year he will be eighty. When I first visited Swamiji’s ashram in 1994, there were only three or four buildings standing. Now Sri Swamiji’s ashram is a small city. All of this says: keep your eyes on the guru, put your personal life in order, worship God.

My yogi self tells me to embrace one form, one guru, one saint or deity and remain steadfast with that manifestation. Good advice, but I am a wanderer. I move from one manifestation to another like a honeybee looking for the nectar which each has to offer. But Sri Swamiji is home base. Even when I turned my back on him and his deeply Hindu forms of worship, he never turned his back on me.

Coming into the presence of Sri Swamiji’s energy is like coming into a concert hall of grand musicians in full form playing to the whole universe lush, bounteous, and ecstatic music celebrating the reality of God. Once that reality is known and deeply felt in one’s life, there is only one activity that is real and true and that is celebration. Sri Swamiji’s manifestation is that celebration. One finds a seat and grabs this wave and that wave of his being to call them one’s own. The videos on this page are examples of waves of his energy. They can be enjoyed as is, or any one of these can open doors to the deep interior if one wishes to make the inward turn in this space here and now.

  1. Live concert music (20 min)

2. Swamiji singing bhajans (8 min)

3. World Protection Mantra. Using this video, one can easily chant this mantra and receive the benefits for oneself and for the world. (10 min)

4. The Sri Chakra Puja. Sri Swamiji performs this puja every morning regardless of where he is in the world. It is a devotion to the divine mother. This video has a commentary explaining the different elements of the puja, but best advantage is to be gained by watching Swamiji’s movements. Not just what he does but how he is. In other words, one feels it. Understanding is secondary. (25 min)

5. A tour of Sri Swamiji’s ashram in Mysore, India. Without commentary. The music soundtrack is delightful but is not Swamiji’s music. (11 min)

baba 13

The two videos of Meher Baba that follow have two different appeals. The first is a traditional documentary in form; in essence it is a transmission from the depths of the ocean of being, reality unformed, probably as far as any human being has penetrated except the select few whom Baba names; Rama, Krishna, Buddha, Jesus Christ, Mohammed. The information in this presentation will likely be new to those who have not followed the presence of such beings in the world. Viewing this film might be a life changing experience. The darshan here passes from the mind directly into the spirit and stirs the waters as deeply as the viewer can sustain.

The second video is a universal prayer composed by Meher Baba sung by one of his devotees accompanied by a wonderful collection of videos of Baba during activities of all phases of his life. The audio is crystal clear. The words are an affirmation that God is present in all things. The darshan here goes directly into the heart.

Very few people are aware of the grand drama of existence that is going on behind the scenes of personal living. The sense of it may pass through your mind, but the actual desire to pull back those veils and take on the reality out of which you arise into consciousness is a gift from the divine. Part of that exposure to the possibilities of coming into the divine presence or that presence tapping your psyche to let you know that your life is real is the day to day creation of your prayer, the truth of who you have become in your living, the statement that will spill out of your heart without contemplation or conscious preparation and by which the divine will know your readiness to continue your journey to God Union. In this episode, you journey into that place where you are creating that prayer. Feel that space. Open the door. Special treat at the end: a dramatization of a human consciousness passing into enlightenment.

The Invisible Room Deep Mystery Podcast presents on this one page two special episodes entitled “The Sweet Voice of Prayer.”

Each episode is a deep dive into your invisible room in search of your individual prayer voice. If it doesn’t already exist in your conscious thinking, these audios will help you find it and bring it closer to the surface of your living. Prayer is not just a religious form of faith; it is dynamic existential condition arising directly out of your invisible room, the absolute spirit. Spiritual life is about bringing multiple dimensions of reality together into a greater whole through the process of awakening. “Prayer” is the prime integrator within our interior, multidimensional landscape. At the level of experience, this dynamic condition is not called anything. It just is; it is ongoing, eternally. On the level of conditioned thinking, we might just say that prayer is your intimacy with God.

The particular items in each audio are my creation. The voice that arises out of you will bring with it your creations in connecting with God. My yogi self comes in to remind us that there is no magic in individual items; they serve only to bring you into acknowledgement of the reality of God.

There are a few seconds of silence between each prayer statement or experience, when your voice will have a chance to speak its truth, which will arise more likely as a feeling than as a piece of mental language. Each episode begins with a preparation for experiencing the deeper currents of knowing just below the thinking mind. If you are in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed, then you are ready. Just pick which episode is right for you.

In the shorter version, the prayer form is conducive to finding your own sweet voice of prayer. Duration 12 minutes.

In the longer version, the prayer form is conducive to exploring the depths of your relationship with God. It is more engaging than the shorter version and invites a deeper experience. The longings in these prayers often come with responses. The primary themes in this version of “The Sweet Voice of Prayer” are the nature of reality, self and other, God and the illusion of love. Duration 27 minutes.

A second read of this material before starting might be good, just to be sure.

The deepest mystery of life is present and stirring inside of us in the silence of the invisible room. Outside the invisible room, what we know of ourselves in our daily walk is a brief flicker of awareness, like the flame of a candle with a very short wick in a drafty room, while just beneath the surface, the grand drama of existence is playing itself out on manifold planes of existence by magnificent beings who have assumed the mantle of cosmic explorers. In this guided meditation, we take the deep dive. We push aside the veils, look around, and say, “So, this is what’s going on! This is who I am!” [from Ep 12]
