In the middle of this recording, an electromagnetic signal disrupted my equipment, the effect of which is a word gap at around the 15-minute point. The hum that came in with it dissipates within a few seconds. A mystery!

No matter where we turn in the media or in school or in church or in the laboratories of pharmaceutical companies, or hospitals that specialize in unpleasant ways to depart this earth, the message is constantly transmitted to us that we will die or fall sick or suffer in some way that says death must be avoided at all costs. To die is to cease to exist. They trade on that belief.

Big corporations make big money on fear of death. Our economy would probably collapse were sickness to go into abeyance and this fear fade away. Our whole collective life as human beings is based on fear and ignorance. We die from fear of death. A useful definition of death might be ignorance of eternal life. Fear of death arises out of a lack of knowledge about how things are structured behind the veils. Life as we live it is based upon our not knowing 99% of what is there. That ignorance we take for granted and call it the real world. We even give it a name–Earth.

While still incarnate in a human body, eternal life is a piece of knowledge that arises out of an inner experience, a transformative contact with a Truth that can be neither defined nor denied. No enlightenment is required for this knowledge, just a brushing up against it. Affirmation of one’s faith in an open and sincere heart will remove all doubt about life being an eternal process within which our hearts and souls move as waves of divine love. Knowing this is life eternal.

I speak about this in greater depth and from many viewpoints in the audio. Cultivating the ability to shift into many different viewpoints is how you sign up. Getting your head out of your ongoing personal struggles for a few moments daily is a way to sign up. Realizing that everything you hear in the collective consciousness is a lie is a way to sign up.

Knowing Truth is a very intimate experience. It’s not something you can tell others about. You just twirl your toe in the sand and look up and know.

Creating one of these darshan pages is like jumping into the unbounded ocean of being qualified by the specific dramatic visions and undertakings of great souls who have walked among us, or who are still spreading their divine natures to all who wish to live an awakened life. Sri Aurobindo, who lived from 1872-1950, was a political revolutionary activist early in his life and a revolutionary thinker and spiritual visionary for the greater part his adult life. He grew up and was educated in England but when he returned to Calcutta, he took up violent opposition to the British occupation of India. He spent a year in jail, where he had life-transforming visions of God. When he was released from prison, he fled south to Pondicherry, which at the time was a French enclave, with the intent to continue his political activity. It did not turn out that way. Most of his adulthood until he died in 1950 was spent in seclusion with a small group of devoted disciples as he managed his experiences of higher dimensions of reality, God-realization (in the form of Krishna), God union, and ongoing cognitions of reality beyond human consciousness, as well as the influx of divine consciousness into humanity as part of the evolution of spirit, all of which in its totality he called Integral Yoga. He wrote books, many books, which probably constitute the most inclusive model of reality around, a model which, by the way, is devoid of influence of western religion, which he knew about intimately, but which chose not to include in his written expression.

“Good grief!” as Charlie Brown used to say. I am embarrassed to have tried such a simplistic verbalization of Aurobindo’s work, but my job at the moment is just to provide a match for the reader to strike on whatever ground he or she wishes. Many grounds are provided on this page. Besides, as I move deeper into Sri Aurobindo’s consciousness, I anticipate making more precise statements. This is just for starters.

Sri Aurobindo made two major revisions to Indian spiritual thinking. First was his emphasis on the “Supermind,” which he described as the link between cosmic intelligence (sachchidananda) and human existence; it functions as the active evolutionary intelligence of all reality (I hope I got that right), as opposed to the indefinable Brahman, which is beyond being and doing. His second contribution was to reject the Indian depiction of reality as an eternal repetition of cycles of eons called yugas; he depicts human existence as part of an ever-expanding evolution of consciousness into a beyond still yet to be discovered. He wrote profound and densely packed expositions of these realities.

His companion, The Mother, became the translator of his experience and knowledge into a practical landscape, which included teaching and giving darshan, and the creation and maintenance of an Ashram in Pondicherry in southern India until her death in 1973. The Supermind is said to have “downloaded” into her in 1959. She also was the inspiration for the small, dedicated community of Auroville outside of Pondicherry which draws many visitors and seekers who come to bathe in this knowledge.

The videos below are all extraordinary. The first three are a discussion of Sri Aurobindo’s life and cosmic vision, which is delivered by a wonderfully articulate Dr. Debashish Banerjee. They are well worth a listen and will be sufficient for those who wish to take a quick dip into Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual energy and teachings.

The two videos that follow are dynamic animations of Sri Aurobindo’s cosmic vision. The visuals, music, and descriptions of these realities are a powerful immersion into Aurobindo’s full vision in a very short time. Don’t be surprised if your intuition starts flashing insights. If you want to cut to the chase and go big, go directly to “Evolution Fast Forward Part 2.” If you want to see the multi-dimensional reality of the human being and our connection to higher planes of existence, go to “Evolution Fast Forward Part 3.” One should prepare for a shift in consciousness while watching these videos. The analytical mind will not fare well.

After imbedding oneself in Sri Aurobindo’s massive cosmology, one has to ask: Is there any more the mind can do in addressing the evolution of humanity? and What does it say about the state of one’s personal evolution, if one simply passes Sri Aurobindo by? Not a light undertaking. Simple truth is: It’s not just the information or the intellectual vision. Things change inside by exposing oneself to this material. It’s so inclusive. Doors open. Consciousness seeps out of its personal boundaries into an unfamiliar vastness. Higher this or that?  It doesn’t matter. These doors don’t close. That’s all you need to know.

My most life-altering experience of Sri Aurobindo has come in reading his major work The Life Divine. This book does not open up to the faint of heart, and those readers who approach it with no background in Indian spirituality would probably find it too daunting to undertake. Naturally, when I became aware of its challenging qualities, I dove right in thumping my chest. Things did not turn out the way I thought.

Lesson: you must learn to use the mind in a different way reading this book; you use it as a launching platform rather than as a thought processor. Think of a Saturn V rocket on the way to the moon. As you read, you find yourself drawn into a higher cognitive function where the abstract conditions, which are the characters in this life divine drama, become as real as the person sitting next to you at dinner. One’s consciousness is the life divine active within itself.

Originally, my intent was to read it beginning to end as was my predilection with books. After reading through nearly half of it in that fashion, my intent broke down. I was devastated to find that it was so hard to manage. Understanding was not a problem. It was the fact that each sentence required deep attention. Imagine a swimmer diving deep into the ocean; he can get where he wants to go but cannot stay long. In reading this book, I had to revise what it meant to “understand” something. I had to learn to dive deeper and to stay longer. Takes practice.

One morning while reading I was hit by a flash of psychic lightening which cracked open my mind as if it were a walnut, and suddenly I knew things the human mind was not structured to know. Alas, I knew them for only as long as it takes lightning to strike. After spending weeks cultivating these intuitional lightning strikes in short bursts of random reading, and having great experiences, I put The Life Divine on my bookshelf, where it rests just to my right. After all, where to go with this? Did these experiences have anything to Sri Aurobindo’s Integral Yoga? Look at the image below. From which gradation of mind do we experience life energy, including language arising out of reading?

Approaching Sri Aurobindo and The Mother requires a willingness to submit yourself to the cosmic mind, or the “Supermind,” as they called it. It is not a warm invitation. The outer cosmos is a real place, but it is not a warm place. Once your psyche breaks through to this level of existence, all pretenses of personal spiritual accomplishment evaporate. I heard Osho say once that Sri Aurobindo wrote great books but that he was not enlightened. One crack of lightning from the Supermind into one’s small personal existence will make such a comment irrelevant and, indeed, any pretenses about enlightenment as a personal goal seem trivial, at least for as long as one is in contact with that higher consciousness space.

A day devoted to viewing the two “Evolution Fast Forward” videos and reading a chapter or two from this book can be life transforming. Be with it and things will change.

HH Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji

My relationship with Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji has been ongoing since 1993, when, during a concert, he came into the audience and manifested for me a crystal out of his siddha abilities (mystical powers). After the concert, I asked him why. He said because I had been performing puja daily. That was an irresistible hook. I feel him swirling inside me right now as I prepare these words for presentation on this website.

I have visited Sri Swamiji’s ashram in Mysore, India, twice and have a room there in my name should I wish to visit again. Meanwhile there is much territory on my inner landscape devoted to my experiences with him and the many avenues through which he makes himself available to devotees. Just to give him a special name on that inner territory, I refer to him now as the Absolute Man. He is the sadguru, the Absolute Man. That means that Sri Swamiji has mastered life when lived within and as the absolute spirit. He is the knower and the known. He is the ongoing process of life manifesting and unmanifesting itself. In the language of his Hindu devotes, he is Dattatreya as well as the self-existent one (Avadhoot). His movement within the unmoved and unmoving spirit is Dattatreya. I currently chant mantras and listen to his music to receive the Dattatreya bounty and Sri Swamiji’s grace.

In contrast to the sparse external presentation of Ramana Maharshi, Sri Swamiji’s manifestation is like a paradisal garden of lush spiritual delights. He is a world class musician on the synthesizer and has played concerts of Meditation and Healing music around the world for thirty years. Many of his albums are available in iTunes, and through Apple Music and Spotify, for those who subscribe to those services.

As a Brahman in India, Sri Swamiji performs pujas (sacred ceremony) to many of the Hindu deities preferred by those who come to him. Sri Swamiji’s choices to worship are their choices. Sri Swamiji is the source to which all these deities refer. Every morning without fail, no matter where he is in the world, Sri Swamiji performs the Sri Chakra Puja, which is a devotional service to the divine mother. His mother was his guru. Keeping one’s eyes on the guru, one never gets lost, although until enlightenment dawns, one is always blind. I once asked Swamiji what the value was in having a sadguru. His answer was one word, “Protection.” How many years of searching blindly about does it take to realize the truth of this statement.

Sri Swamiji’s presence in the world has flourished like foliage in a rain forest. He has millions of devotees in India and the west; he has many temples to various deities in the Mysore ashram to accommodate their worship, and he has many ashrams around India and the west. He has recorded dozens of albums of Meditation and Healing music as well as bhajans (devotional songs), most of which he composed. Sri Swamiji is constantly travelling around the world to visit devotees. This year he will be eighty. When I first visited Swamiji’s ashram in 1994, there were only three or four buildings standing. Now Sri Swamiji’s ashram is a small city. All of this says: keep your eyes on the guru, put your personal life in order, worship God.

My yogi self tells me to embrace one form, one guru, one saint or deity and remain steadfast with that manifestation. Good advice, but I am a wanderer. I move from one manifestation to another like a honeybee looking for the nectar which each has to offer. But Sri Swamiji is home base. Even when I turned my back on him and his deeply Hindu forms of worship, he never turned his back on me.

Coming into the presence of Sri Swamiji’s energy is like coming into a concert hall of grand musicians in full form playing to the whole universe lush, bounteous, and ecstatic music celebrating the reality of God. Once that reality is known and deeply felt in one’s life, there is only one activity that is real and true and that is celebration. Sri Swamiji’s manifestation is that celebration. One finds a seat and grabs this wave and that wave of his being to call them one’s own. The videos on this page are examples of waves of his energy. They can be enjoyed as is, or any one of these can open doors to the deep interior if one wishes to make the inward turn in this space here and now.

This video has a commentary explaining the different elements of the puja, but best advantage is to be gained by watching Swamiji’s movements. Not just what he does but how he is. In other words, one feels it. Understanding is secondary. (25 min)

Sri Anandamayi Ma was born knowing she was in union with God. She grew up knowing she was in union with God. Eventually everyone around her knew she was in union with God. During much of her early life, she would go into samadhi for hours or days at a time. She told others she was never born as her body though her physical presence (1896-1982) was a response, as she said, for a renewal of divine love in a world lost in its materiality. Ma did not leave a body of teachings; in fact, most of her recorded voice consists of answering questions during satsang sessions or chanting mantras in divine ecstasy. The videos below contain these elements of her darshan. The first is a semi-traditional documentary giving some of the ordinary facts of her life; in this video the shakti builds dramatically. The other two videos are almost purely divine energy. Most of the darshan comes through the images of her; some comes through the exquisite singing; the rest comes from one’s own divine source. Don’t forget to enjoy the portrait gallery of images of Ma. Divine shakti is what it is, what you and I are; there is nothing else. Best recommendation is to listen to all three in one sitting. About 45 minutes.

Many of the great teachers of our age point to Ramana Maharishi as the pinnacle of enlightenment. He transcends all teachings and yet is a living verification of the greatest wisdom offered to humankind. The darshan of this video is first in the images of Ramana. The simplicity of what is real can be seen in these images. Nothing to gain and nothing to lose. The narration by Robert Adams, one of his most ardent followers, is a darshan in itself, especially as one opens one’s inner knowing to what is being said. Eternity in only forty minutes.

The second video is a deep immersion into Ramana’s life and teachings. This journey into the eternal Self occurs as you listen and view the images. Just be there, here, and do nothing else.

The two videos of Meher Baba that follow have two different appeals. The first is a traditional documentary in form; in essence it is a transmission from the depths of the ocean of being, reality unformed, probably as far as any human being has penetrated except the select few whom Baba names; Rama, Krishna, Buddha, Jesus Christ, Mohammed. The information in this presentation will likely be new to those who have not followed the presence of such beings in the world. Viewing this film might be a life changing experience. The darshan here passes from the mind directly into the spirit and stirs the waters as deeply as the viewer can sustain.

The second video is a universal prayer composed by Meher Baba sung by one of his devotees accompanied by a wonderful collection of videos of Baba during activities of all phases of his life. The audio is crystal clear. The words are an affirmation that God is present in all things. The darshan here goes directly into the heart.

6 minutes to know how awake you are

To be awake is to know the truth of how things are. To be fully awake is to know how things are from the viewpoint of your invisible room. The statements in this quick assessment are not intended for the mind to understand. They are directed to the psyche, the soul, to see where it stands in its evolution. Is it ready to turn its attention directly to spirit? In listening to these statements, you just let them in. After each statement, there will be a few seconds of silence. At the end, knowing will be present independent of the things you know. This knowing is what we cultivate when we enter the invisible room. To be awake begins with the original knowing. The mystery of knowing is the mystery of existence.
